Local and international flights from Basel are handled through EuroAirport Basel – Mulhouse – Freiburg (BSL), which is located a very convenient 6 kilometers from the city. A bit of a geographical oddity, EuroAirport Basel is one of only a handful of airports that is jointly operated by two countries, with its international status requiring the unusual assignment of 3 different airport codes. Located entirely on French soil, the airport nevertheless contains a Swiss customs area, and it is possible to pass between the two countries through the airport with valid ID.

The number 50 bus to EuroAirport Basel takes approximately 20 minutes to arrive from the city. A taxi to EuroAirport Basel is also available and more convenient, but is more expensive.
